Meet the team

Marcus Ward - Director

Marcus is a life-long naturalist specialising in birds, mammals, moths and fungi. Marcus is known for his work with Hawfinch, in addition to leading the Pine Marten project, and spends many 100’s of hours in the field with these species each year. Marcus is a bird-ringing trainer and runs a team of 12 bird ringers as part of the New Forest Ringing Group. Marcus is a popular speaker on the circuit and when he isn’t fulfilling his obsession for Hawfinch he can be found on his local patch at Lymington-Keyhaven Marshes where over the years he has found and documented many scarce and rare species.

Emily-Louise - Director

Emily-Louise is passionate about all wildlife with a near obsession for all things Fungi! Emily has been instrumental in setting up the Wildlife Explorers Club and coordinates the bi-annual wildlife camp where her quizzes are near legendary. Emily is a trainee bird ringer, ner favourite being a Nightjar.

Jamie Ward - Mini Marcus

Jamie is an all-round naturalist and trainee bird ringer. A regular face on all outings from the outset and now leading some of our family and young person walks. Jamie is best known for his photography with many of his images featuring on this website.

Tara Squire - Volunteer

Tara is the matriarch of the team, a regular with Amy on walks helping find interesting specimens. Tara is a trainee bird ringer and bakes excellent Dorset Apple Cake which keep teams spirits up on those cold early mornings!

Tiffany - Chief Baker

Tiffany is in charge of baking cakes for the boat trips, her Chocolate Brownies have become rightfully famous. Tiffany regularly attends walks during the holidays, her favourite bird is the House Martin.

Amy Squire - Volunteer

Amy is a trainee bird ringer with a passion for all wildlife. Amy has become a key member of the team with a specialism of finding the small and obscure species.
